Is Swiss radio and television left-leaning?

Date: 24. - 24.02.2025 18.00 - 19.30

The argument that Swiss radio and television are left-leaning provides a lot of support for the halving initiative. And a recently published study by the Zurich University of Applied Sciences actually shows that the majority of Swiss journalists belong to the left-wing camp.

But does the claim of left-wing bias stand up to an objective assessment? Esther Girsberger (pictured) has been the ombudswoman for Swiss radio and television in German-speaking Switzerland since 2020 and deals with complaints about public service media on a daily basis. What is her position on the allegations and how does she generally assess the quality of the broadcasters? Andreas Jäggi asks her about this.
