Growth needs immigration

Date: 11.01.2024

How can we cope with Switzerland's ten million population? Does growth need immigration? Lukas Rühli from the Avenir Suisse think tank took a lively and controversial stance on these statements and the resulting questions at the Lilienberg Talk on January 10, 2024.

Who is driving this immigration? What advantages or opportunities does it offer (e.g. skilled workers), what disadvantages? Is there any way to curb or limit this growth? How can the consequences be managed? What does this mean for our spatial planning, our social structures, coexistence, etc.? Discussion leader Christoph Vollenweider (left) discussed these and other questions with Lukas Rühli. Our interested audience played a decisive role in this interesting exchange of opinions with their contributions and questions.
